Zoom is a web-based tool that has become extremely popular in 2020 due to the pandemic. Zoom is a service used over the Internet for video conferencing. It allows people to see each other and share their screen. Zoom is used a lot in the workplace for interoffice meetings or conferences with other companies. More recently, Zoom has been utilized to homeschool and communicate with family and friends.

How do I use Zoom?

Zoom is available to view on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. You can also call into a Zoom meeting by using your ITC landline telephone. By calling, you will only be able to hear the meeting, not view it.

Before a meeting starts, you will receive an email from Zoom generated by the meeting initiator. Within this email, there will be a link to click and a phone number to call. Once you click the link and type in your registration info, your meeting will begin. When using a smart device or computer, you will be able to view and hear the meeting. Most times, they will also be able to see and hear you too.

Why use Zoom?

Zoom has a free plan available for anyone. This plan will allow you to initiate as many one on one meetings as you want. You can also chat with two or more people for up to 40 minutes with the free plan. If you aren't planning on being the initiator of a meeting or video chat, you don't need to sign up for an account to join in.

There are a lot of fun things to play with on Zoom too. You can change your background to any picture you like. There are also a couple of filters to touch up your appearance. Zoom also allows you to record the meeting and see up to 49 attendees at once using the gallery view. Screen sharing is as easy as a click of the button for anyone attending.

ITC Annual Meeting

This year, ITC decided to use Zoom for the Annual Meeting. We felt that it would be an easy way to share information with our Coop members and still keep people safe. If you RSVP'd to the Annual Meeting and would like some more info on how to use Zoom, please click here.

Zoom is a great tool. It allows you to see other people as you discuss business or chat over coffee. For more info, please check out their website at https://zoom.us/. Happy Zooming!
